judging from the flashback during the burglar's story..it seems like soejima knew kyoko's intention to get him killed but still went along with it.. so did soejima actually committed suicide in this case?

that's the problem with indirect intent to commit a crime. there's no DIRECT link to the culprit. say... you set up a whole box of dominoes in an intricate pattern... and at the end of that pattern is a switch that turns on a bomb that kills somebody. then an earthquake just HAPPENS to start those dominoes falling and KABOOM! somebody gets blown up. so, are you guilty of murder? did you pick up the switch, in your hand, and press it causing the explosion? no you didn't, you just SET-UP the situation where the bomb COULD BE turned on and it goes KABOOM!

if Conan had not found that message from the lady's dead little sister he probably couldn't have 'shrink no jutusu' that lady into confessing. because without her confession, all the police had on her was not securing her gun cabinet properly. if i'm not mistaken that's not a jail offense in Japan, as long as your weapons are NOT stolen and utilized in a crime.

all she will have to do is relocate her firearms to a specified secure facility; like that shooting club she introduced her brother-in-law to. then she'll have to pay the storage fees at that facility. then there are the fines and fees for her oversight in not having a properly secured place for her firearms, and surrender her home-storage firearms license.

once the revocation period is over, she'll have to prove she's purchased and installed a properly operating secure storage location for her firearms in her home. then finally, pay the fees etc. for a new home-storage license. after all that her life... other than getting her ceiling and chandelier fixed... will be back to normal.
